Rosario: rumba finds a home at the Melico Salazar
With her Universo de Ley tour, Rosario Flores ran through more than 6 years of hits at a Teatro Popular Melico Salazar that sang and danced to every song.
On Saturday, October 24, the Teatro Popular Melico Salazar was filled with rumba. Rosario arrived in San José with Universo de Ley, the tour celebrating more than three decades of her career and revisiting the hits that made her a voice of her own within the Flores dynasty.
Her handwritten name lit up the back screen as the band took the stage. In a sparkling dress with the mic held high, Rosario moved from flamenco to pop, rumba and funk, backed by her band and singers, with her trademark energy: open arms, spins and a smile that spread through the whole theater.
The lights did their part. Purple and yellow beams fell across the stage, smoke wrapped around the singer in the most intense moments, and blazing reds marked the most festive songs. It was a show made to be sung from start to finish, and the crowd answered.
Interamericana de Producciones, the concert's producer, summed up the night as full of music, emotion and an audience that enjoyed every moment.
