Bunbury came back to Costa Rica, twelve years later

With the Nuevas Mutaciones Tour and a ten-piece band, Enrique Bunbury returned to Parque Viva's Anfiteatro Imperial to revisit every era of his career, Héroes del Silencio included.

It took more than twelve years. The last time Enrique Bunbury sang in Costa Rica was March 25, 2014, with the Palosanto Tour at the Palacio de los Deportes in Heredia. On Monday, October 26, he returned, this time to the Anfiteatro Imperial at Parque Viva, with the Nuevas Mutaciones Tour 2026, a tour designed to let his songbook change its skin every night.

At 8 p.m. the lights went down and a recording asked fans to put their phones away and live the show firsthand. The crowd answered with an «Enrique, Enrique!» chant that came back all night. The band walked out first, ten musicians from Los Santos Inocentes and Huracán Ambulante, with violin, accordion, horns and percussion; then he arrived, in a hat and sunglasses, for a two-hour show.

The opening looked to his latest work, with «Creer que se puede creer», from De un siglo anterior (2026), and songs from Cuentas pendientes (2025). Then came «Infinito», «La actitud correcta», «Despierta» and «Alaska», while the screens moved from a star-filled sky to a huge cross of light and a giant red sun behind the stage. There was room for Héroes del Silencio too, with «La sirena varada», «La carta» and a «Maldito duende» the crowd sang from start to finish.

For the encore he came back with «El rescate», «Salvavidas», «Lady Blue» and «La constante», the same song he closed with before stepping away from the stage in 2022 because of respiratory problems. Seeing him close with it again, in front of fans who came from as far as the Dominican Republic, gave the night a special meaning: the wait was long, but Bunbury is back.
